Abstract

Abstract

Fear of death and the desire for immortality have been the most fundamental issues and thorns of mankind that have appeared in the myths of nations in various forms. The oldest example of this is the epic of Gil Gamesh, the hero-king of Uruk, whose search and failure are reported in the Twelve Tablets. In Iranian mythology, Kaykhosrow Kiani is one of the immortals that in this article we will link with the symbols of immortality. The research method in this article is descriptive-analytical which has been done by intra-textual study between literature, mythology and psychology and can be related to archaeological findings.

According to the discussions in the article, it is said that Kaykhosrow is one of the prominent mythological figures who is strongly associated with symbols of immortality such as water, trees, plants, mandalas, mountains and caves. Anxiety of death and nothingness has always plagued mankind, annoying him and making the sip of life bitter for him. From this perspective, the desire for immortality is a mechanism to get rid of this long-lasting pain. The human condition, on the other hand, is a perishable and impermanent condition, and eternity is a ritual performed on the stature of the gods. Thus man, with the desire for immortality, strives for godliness, or in other words, as "Mono" says, for immortality in the search for God and the divine position, our time is indivisible before history, that is, when it is always the same. Is so that any time we want to attribute to it should be considered as a moment. And the beginning of this time is the same as doing it because it is not composed of a sequence of different times.

According to Leibniz, this time is full of the past and the conception of the future.
